In 2021 & 2022 Perry Beeches Nursery School took part in the Health for Life in Nursery Schools programme. Our focus was on raising children's awareness of healthy foods and how they grow. We created a gardening allotment area with some raised beds, where we cultivated growing some of our own fruit and vegetables, including strawberries, blueberries, Green beans, Tomatoes, lettuces, carrots and potatoes. In addition we provided all families with fresh fruit boxes to take home, which included a recipe booklet for making some healthy fruit based recipes. Lots of additional opportunities to learn about different varieties of fruits and vegetables and taste them, as well as making healthy recipes at school, enhanced our curriculum. We had really positive feedback from parents about how their children were trying and enjoying a wider range of fresh fruit and vegetables. The Fresh fruit Smoothies and Fruit Kebabs were especially popular!

On Tuesday 14th February 2023 we were invited to Highbury Hall to receive our Health for Life Award.
